Beat it, creep!

Lately I've been intrigued by the 1950s greaser girl aesthetic in which women were just starting to appropriate what had been traditionally masculine elements as part of their outfits. I've made similar moodboards in the past, however, without the mugshots these *bad girl vibes* are less explicit. The female characters in John Waters movies who dress feminine but are either tough or trashy or both have also been a source of inspiration. Shot outs to Wanda Woodward for having the most bomb hair throughout Cry-Baby! The commonality across the broad spectrum of fashions which emerged during this decade was impeccably styled hair. I'm in desperate need for a change with my own do' but I'm a little stuck for ideas. Ultimately the most influential factor will be how my haircut will affect later outfit posts and how I express personal style, but for now I am content to be stuck in this informative period. Hair dye is also a possibility in terms of a personal transformation, hence all the photos of Tavi hanging out with cool older girls.

a hazy shade of winter

If you asked me what I've done over the last couple of weeks I couldn't say for sure although I have a vague idea. Each day kind of blurs into the last and there's a pile of pretty outfits sitting in my room that I simply haven't had time to wear. All I know is slowly I'm running out of time to do everything that I set out to do, but rather than study furiously I am creating aesthetically pleasing moodboards. I can sympathize with my parents when they feel jaded in their jobs, without the structure of exams and school holidays to regiment periods of stress and relaxation. Making sense or trying to compile everything about an aesthetic into a few images, or writing one powerful paragraph describing a graduate collection has been my escape lately. I've also started to sell some of the pieces in my wardrobe which just don't get enough love which has been surprisingly refreshing. Sooner or later I'll need to take a week off, or at least a few days and maybe escape to the holiday house and immerse myself in journaling (which I've all but neglected since February).

dog days are over

It's occurred to me that a lot of the content I've blogged over the last month or so has simply added to the 'noise' of the Internet and for that I'm sorry. Keeping on top of my workload for uni has really hampered any efforts to read articles and improve my writing style. Hence why a lot of my blog posts are a jumbled and incoherent mess of trendy terms to have at the ready. I suppose in many capacities I'm struggling to really reach audiences but at the core of the problem is the quality of my content. Hopefully soon I will have a little more time to myself and have a little more balance between blogging and academic life I can't make any promises. They say in order to create you must first destroy. Deconstruction is coming soon, slowly but surely. I just have to sort out the mess that is my head and my life at the moment.
