Bad Luck

Wearing: Asos blouse, vintage crochet top from Tunnel Vision, MarinaFINI earrings, Target shorts and Dr Martens boots.

In an interview with Leandra Medine of Man Repeller, Iris Apfel agreed we don't live in a glamorous world anymore. As much as I'd hate to admit if she's right- they're both right. Now and then Leandra wears something both glorious and outlandish, such as a gold blazer with matching shorts and Balenciaga boots but even the blogging world's brightest star rarely dresses with the same panache. I've been thinking a lot lately, about accessories and their relevance in day to day life. Both Iris Apfel and Leandra frequent garish bangles and bracelets, with little method to their madness. Medine has coined the term "arm party" for the collection of shiny bangles and bracelets she wears on her wrists. And Apfel appears to prefer wearing elaborate jewellery in lieu of going to the gym, or as a kind of armor. I'm citing both these fabulous women in this outfit, which seems fitting given that this bracelet is a gift from yet another fabulous woman- my mom

Wearing: Discount Universe halter top, Target trousers, gifted bangle and Chloë Sevigny x Opening Ceremony boots.

I was well and truly feeling myself in this outfit. The pants and bracelet are pieces my mom bought me, as she insists on buying my clothes despite my many protests. So I thought, why not wear those pieces with two of my favourite things I bought for myself? I have the terrible affliction of forgetting about amazing pieces I purchase months ago, and forgetting that even if I have worn them there aren't any pics on my blog. I'm citing this amazing sequined halter top, which is not a style that I would normally wear but it was actually fun to show a little skin for once! Aside from making my body look hot this piece if so well made, each sequin was hand-sewn and the fabric is surprisingly heavy but also stretchy. The previous owner either 1.) did not wear it much or 2.) looked after it. Whatever the case may be I'm extremely grateful I snapped up this archive piece when I did- it's one of my absolute favorites from the Australian brand!

Wearing: Turban Hats4Ladies (etsy), earrings and bracelet from Marina FINI, vintage blazer, Miss Shop dress and thrifted heels.

I wore this outfit a few weeks ago now when I went thrift shopping (and surprisingly found nothing I liked), but then went to a friend's house for dinner. Dinner was delicious and then we played a game of pictionary whilst trying to explain what it is we as student geologists do. Hanging out with friends is always nice AND I got to play with his pet cat Misery. Everyone agrees it's possibly the greatest name for a cat. Anyway crazy cat lady shenanigans aside, it's always nice to be able to dress up every now and then and this is probably the most heavily 80s inspired outfit I've worn since I first got into fashion at about age fourteen or fifteen. There's also a definite flair or sassieness, probably due to the influence of the ladies and gentlemen featured on Advanced Style.
