Fashionation by 77

77 inherited by POSSAL is designer Sweetie Ramlagun's latest venture - after having successfully launched POSSAL by SWEETIE RAMLAGUN last year, she has ventured out into a clothing line that although has a different feel and flow as compared to POSSAL is still very much Sweetie.

Below are the pieces presented at her fashion show on the 20th of July. The pret a porter collection is named From Blue to Gold, and I think its all movie star glam - whether its casual t-shirts or dresses to die for! The collection will shortly be available at her Atelier in Phoenix, and at the 77 inherited by Possal store in Grand Baie La Croisette!

Decadent, rich fabric and colour. This is how you define glamour.

Paisley is a huge trend for 2012 - and this beautiful rich gold and deep Palatinate blue dress is right on target. The cream-gold dress on the left is absolute movie-star glam, your perfect pick for those nights where you need to shine.

I love love love the drape on this white dress. So beautiful!

Suits can be causal, if you know how to wear them.

The print on the dresses above is absolutely stunning. Wear it during the day with sandals and a large tote, and glam it up at night with some bright, chunky jewellery, killer heels and brightly coloured clutch.

I love the vintage car prints!

Otherwise, I have had quite a few e-mails this week, and one I could not answer:

Where can you find clip in hair extensions?

Concerning synthetic hair clip extensions, I couldn't find any.
However in general, I wouldn't recommend buying hair extensions. Why?
Although this applies for the really luxurious kind of hair extensions, it may apply to some cheaper versions too. The fact is, some women are forced to sell their hair for money.

Another question was:

What should I Wear to Graduation (Under the Gown)?

Think smart, classy and refined.

Stick to knee length (or a few cm above, but it should be around knee length). It's not a cocktail party, nor are you going to a black tie event.

Choose your dress wisely: The fabric must breathe. Avoid anything tight, flimsy and clingy or wishy-washy thin, in danger of blowing away. Make sure the fabric doesn't crease.

If you are going over the knee, make sure you have the height to pull it off - at least 1m74 and above.

Mid to low heels: do not go in high platforms or wear high heels, you will be uncomfortable and may trip.

Do not go over the top jewellery-wise: One piece is enough, whether it is a brooch, a necklace or a bracelet. I would highly recommend going for studs earring wise, because of longer earrings might get caught in the tassels of your graduation cap.

Choose the colour of your dress appropriately: I would suggest looking at a colour wheel and pin point the complement of the colour of your graduation gown.

Test Drive your outfit first: Wear it, see how it fits, sit down in it, walk in it. Get someone to take a picture of you in the dress, to see whether it really does look good on photo (transparency can be a real problem in flimsy dresses, revealed by the camera).

Dresses here in this genre can actually be quite expensive, as there are not many around. I would rather you take the money, choose the fabric and design yourself and visit a tailor - email me if you want the contact details of the woman I think is the best around. That way, you'll be sure that on the day it will be extremely difficult that someone has the same dress as you!

Obviously, the picture above isn't exactly representational of what you should be wearing, but you get the general gist. It's beautiful, it's sexy without being revealing, its form fitting without you seeing lumps and bumps of skin, its at a perfect length.

Now onto The Animal Skin/Fur Trade

Let's face it: We have long moved away from needing to kill animals for pelts and warmth.
It has long been a status symbol: movie stars wear fur and animal skin, and so do very successful, ultra rich people.
It's wrong. What makes it even worse now is that there are so many perfect replacements for animal skin (synthetic leather, for example) which are even better than the real deal. That what you think is fake fur may actually be cat or dog fur, a "cheaper" alternative.

I've provided links to the videos and articles on the subject, rather than copy-pasting extracts.

Why have I crammed so much into this post, you may wonder. Well, its because this is my before-last post. Next week, I'll say my good-bye's and give some parting advice to everyone in the industry and especially to all my readers who have always faithfully read my posts. You have changed my life - thank you!<3
That isn't to say though, that if something big happens in fashion in the little weeks I have left here that I won't cover it. I will do my best to do so. But it's just to tell you anyhow. The blog will continue to exist, albeit not updated.

Have an awesome week and weekend!
