It has definitely been a while since I last posted, and its time to get this blog back on track.
I was always very interested in Mauritian street style. Living in a very hot country limits your styling options somewhat, as really, anything layered is out of the question. Yet some women just pull off the simplest pieces so beautifully well, in some of the hottest parts of the island where - let's face it - it would be more comfortable just to walk around in a bikini.
Laetitia Sauzier for PEOPLE: IN FASHION

Laetitia Sauzier, Mauritian supermodel, pageant queen and all around stunner is a Mauritian style icon. Though she is an expatriate, she has understood and embodies 'Mauritian style', or at least one aspect of it.
As you may have noticed in my interview of her in PEOPLE: IN FASHION, she describes herself as quite a girly-girl. She came to the shoot in a black top, jeans, the biggest tote ever and embellished sandals - I really don't believe we are ever going to catch her in flip flops.
She is elegant, perennially chic and knows how to dress for her body shape and for the season (though it can be argued that by the coast it's always hot).
A cute printed short paired with a loose top and one key accessory are all you need for instant style. Long hair and hot weather don't always mix: a cute distressed cinnamon bun is island-friendly.

This was another one of her looks during her photo shoot: a jumpsuit with a cut out back that she paired with a metallic belt and heels. Simple, striking and workable day or night.
Fun day idea: a simple white top, paired with an Aztec printed skirt. It's simple, it works.
Get inspired!
