And it's out!!
5 months of careful planning, 4 months of intensive photo shooting, one massive launch that brought together 1, 000 people (twice the Hennessy Hotel's capacity), one revolutionary magazine in newsstands as from yesterday.
This is PEOPLE: IN FASHION
Model: Genevieve Bruno
Dress: Guilded Art by Sanjeet Boolell
Photographer: Karen Pang
Location: The Eureka House
So, what's inside?
21 interviews of the most influential and important Mauritians working in fashion today.
Models, make-up artists, photographers and designers.
From the iconic Anne-lisee Ramooloo to fiery Sweetie Ramlagun, read about the lives of the people shaping fashion today.
I just have to clarify a few things though, as many people are confused:
a) It's not a new magazine, it's a special, one-off edition. That means that PEOPLE: IN FASHION will never come out again or be repeated in any way, at least not in the near future.
b) It's a collaboration between PEOPLE Magazine and Style Mauritius. Which means that I wrote all the articles, organised all the photo shoots, and created an entirely new team for this special edition. However, I'm using the magazine's name, format, concept, and I'm working with the director of the magazine as well as the graphic designer.
c) It's in English because I write better in English. If it was in French you would just die laughing.
d) I couldn't put everyone in it, unfortunately. The magazine of my dreams is 300 pages long and features everybody I want. Question is, where do you get that kind of finance in this country?...
PEOPLE: IN FASHION would not have been possible without two of the most talented photographers working with me. Friends before colleagues, always!

and Khatleen Minerve:
Here's a little peek of what you can expect - though none of the images below are actually in the magazine! You're going to have to discover it for yourselves...
The man behind the paint: meet Cedric Lanappe, make-up artist. On the left: model Deborah Jubeau.
Photographer: Khatleen Minerve
The pioneer: Mario Guillot is the first Mauritian designer, the first Mauritian ever to go abroad and study design.

You may not know that POSSAL by Sweetie RAMLAGUN was derived from her childhood nickname. POSSAL = Pots Sales. She used to climb into pots and vases as a child.
Photographer: Karen Pang
The Mauritian model who was the face of Kookai, Jus d'Orange and many others:
Jasmina Ruben
Photographer: Khatleen Minerve
The most revered make-up artist working here today. Valerie Lee creates perfection.
Photographer: Karen Pang
Here is one of Valerie's looks (she also created the concept!).
The model is Angelique d'Hotman de Villiers.
The most incredible new face. Elisa Hugnin appears twice in the magazine, modelling for In'Am by llup (wearing this gorgeous white cape below) and for Saskia Pougnet.
Photographer: Karen Pang
The lovely Saskia Pougnet, who's clothes I adore!
Photographer: Khatleen Minerve
Katia Moochooram, the most popular Mauritian model ever, a true shooting star!
My Muse: Anne-lise Ramooloo. And I would also say that she is the face of Mauritius.
