C Beach Club Party 2013

Friday, March 15, 2013

I'm so busy getting ready to leave the UK that I don't have much time for a nice long blog post, but here are a few updates on current events:

The beach party of the summer was held at the C Beach Club on the 12th of March, and some great examples of beach style were on show:

The best dressed? Katia Moochooram. She wore a swimsuit - a nice change from all the bikinis on parade - and it was a perfect shade of navy that complemented her golden skin. The look was completed by gold jewellery and the always-necessary sunglasses.

I love that Laetitia Sauzier added a bohemian touch to her outfit by wearing a feather necklace.

Bandeau bikinis seem to have been favoured by many.

Best hair: the woman besides Jean-Luc Ahnee. I love a nice thick braid - keeps your hair out of the way  and looks very bohemian-chic.

There was also a fashion show with models belonging to the Gold Models agency:

In other news:

I updated a couple of pages that were long obsolete: The Mauritian Fashion Industry and the About Me section of my blog.

A quick note on the Mauritian Fashion Industry page: this isn't a definitive list. I have removed some and added others - not that I don't think that many of the new designers that emerged in 2011 shouldn't be on this list, but it's because they haven't produced anything new, to my knowledge, in the past two years.  I also added a few other designers, such as Shenaz Currimjee de Robillard and Saskia Pougnet, who should have been on the list from the start.

I remember last year some people, who shall remain nameless, asked why (a) certain fashion designer(s) had no photos on the Mauritian Fashion Industry page, and accused me of being unprofessional. Just to clarify, I don't post images without the person's consent, and I had sent an email to the designer(s) involved requesting for information and photos, and they/(he/she) never replied. So I've taken the liberty of providing a photo of their newest collection (referenced, of course). I think it would be a pity, because of somewhat unprofessional behaviour, not to show their work.

Alicia Rountree (the most successful Mauritian model ever) has become very, very popular - every entertainment website is talking about her right now. If you don't know who she is or why it is that she has suddenly jumped to fame, a quick google search should do the job - but if you want to know more about her and her career, read my interview with her back in 2012.

xoxo
