It's Winter!

Friday, June 15, 2012

Well, kind of. It's not even nearly cold enough for me, but there you go.

I wrote a recap of the Winter 2012/2013 trends here so you can refer to it to inspire your style this winter.

I have been on my usual shopping rounds, and I've noticed a lack of good quality trench coats on the market - no lining whatsoever, made of such light fabric that does not provide any source of warmth whatsoever. I practically live in my trench coat, and I think everyone (man or woman!!) needs one in their wardrobes now.

If you have found a nice one here then good for you, otherwise I recommend heading over to ASOS (FREE SHIPPING TO MAURITIUS!!!):

One in classic brown should be enough.

The number one thing to know when wearing a trench coat:

NEVER EVER BUCKLE AND FASTEN THE BELT. Always either let the ends hand loose, or tie up the ends in a knot (not too tight!), with the buckle loose, or knot the ends behind your back.

Shoe shopping wise, last week I believe I saw ALDO had 40% off all boots, so you know where to go. There were a nice pair of flat biker boots that, with considerable usage, will look pretty cool (new biker boots look odd!)

For the best cover ups, head to In'Am. I know, most of you must be going "she only ever talks about that label!" but I would never recommend to you products that weren't of the highest quality, that you could wear time and time again. They also have Father's day special offers going on - and there are some pieces that can crossover to your wardrobe too, ladies.

There are also beautiful cable knit sweaters that are a must for winter!

Here's a Look Book of styles you can try. Have fun!

Always keep colour in mind when composing your look. The deep burgundy of the shirt matches the sky blue of her top, layered over - a look in Mauritius sufficient to warm you up.

The vivid mint of the cable knit is amazing, and paired with a printed silk neck scarf is awesome! A look to try for both guys and girls.

Play with lengths and sizes: This heavy, long jacket/coat is offset by the seemingly light, white chemise and slightly loose jeans.

Choose your prints wisely- make sure that you don't have prints competing against each other. Here, the print on the trousers is small compared to the knitted sweater/jacket.

A denim jacket under a coat, or layered under a leather jacket, works wonders.
