Wearing: Romance Was Born dress, thrifted cardigan and J.W. Anderson shoes.
Today's outfit is equal parts craft techniques and more ethereal ~witchy vibes~. This dress is such a special piece and I always feel so potent and powerful when I wear it. Originally I was inspired by all things haberdashery but extended that metaphor to mother of pearl buttons and yarn for something warm. These are the last photos I took at Philip Island but hopefully I'll be back soon! It was so hard deciding what clothes to being and even though we were only visiting for three days I wanted to make the most of it. I can now see why packing for Fashion Week is such a big deal, and why weeks of deliberation are spent making these decisions. Packing these shoes probably took the most room, but each piece took up a considerable amount of space. In my defense, a winter wardrobe will need to have a little more weight and texture to it. I have every intention of channelling my inner witch next season, which means lots of long flowing dresses with some Stevie Nicks vibes. It's so hard not to feel influenced by the 70s inspiration that swept the runway last season, but as always I've interpreted using my own colour palette and aesthetic.
Wearing: J.W. Anderson X Topshop sweater, Asos faux fur scarf, Karen Walker sunglasses, DIY skirt and J.W. Anderson pearl heels.
Today's look was in part inspired by the picket fence at my boyfriend's holiday home and the vivid photography of Alex Prager. It's also a continuation of this moodboard I made at the end of last year. Tbh I just really wanted to wear pastel tones, a killer pair of shades and most of all double J.W. Anderson.
HOW AMAZING ARE MY SHOES GUYS?? (I know I say that every time I buy a new pair but cmon)
The heels are made from real mother of pearl and they're the perfect combination of leather and brushed suede. Anyway, Alex Prager creates stunning visual films and photographs featuring vivid blue skies and women with porcelain skin. 1, 6- Alex Prager. 2 & 3- Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963). 4- Desiree by Alex Prager, 2008. 5- Bye Bye Birdie (1963). 7- Grease (1978). 8- Cindy Sherman's untitled film stills. 9- Despair by Alex Prager, 2010.
Wearing: Vintage jacket, Romance Was Born skirt, thrifted top and heels.
Please excuse this throwback to an obnoxious 1980s game show host, minus the tall quiffed hair but I was in a mood where I wanted to wear lots of purple and green. This colour scheme also encapsulates many Poison Grass type Pokemon as well as the Batman villain and total badass Poison Ivy- ergo uninspired blog post title. Even though it's Winter the garden has remained lush and vibrant which has really inspired me to spend more time outside. By far the best part of this year has been spent learning more about nature, particularly plants and fungi, in order to better understand how ecosystems interact as a whole. Basically nature is great and so inspiring and I can't imagine a point where I'd be so jaded I'd be incapable of appreciating its beauty.
Also, it's about this time of year that someone either online or IRL tells me that I need to cover my dark circles or do something about the bags under my eyes. Huzzah! I've come up with the perfect solution (although I'm not the originator):
Today I thought I'd share my beauty tip for 1. Buy glitter.2. Cover dark circles.3. Free yourself from the patriarchy.
